Hi Friends!! Today I want to share with you a really quick and easy way to do some "watercoloring" --- without the frustrations that go along with it! It's called Block Watercoloring and it's named that because you do all of your watercoloring with a clear block!
You just need a few supplies to get you started:
You just need a few supplies to get you started:
- Watercolor Paper #122959
- Stampin' Write Markers (whatever colors you'd like; I used Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Fresh Fig, and Night of Navy --- this created a "sunrise" look)
- Clear Block (any size; I used Clear Block D)
- Stampin' Spritzer #126185
Once you've gathered your minimal supplies, it's time to get started!
The easiest way to do this technique is to color directly onto your Clear Block with your Stampin' Write Markers. You can, of course, stamp onto a block, too, if you'd prefer, or even lightly press your block into an Ink Pad (but this can get a bit messy...)
The next step is use your Stampin' Spritzer and spritz your block with a spray or two of water. Be sure you hold your Spritzer away at least 4" from your block, otherwise, you may oversaturate your color, causing it to mix into a muddy brown color. Ick!
Next, (and this is my favorite part!) smoosh the block onto your Watercolor Paper! You'll see the damp colors transfer beautifully to your paper. If it's not exactly the look you want, you can always spritz your watercolor paper directly and use a paintbrush or your finger (believe it or not, that's what I did!) to blend your colors just a bit more to your liking.
To finish things off, you can certainly stamp images on top of your watercolored piece or embellish to your liking. Here's a finished piece using my tutorial paper for you:
Let me know if you decide to try it and how it worked for you! It really is lots of fun and easy to accomplish!
